In this exciting role you'll be the face of our People Team in Korea. Overseeing and leading all People team activities, maintaining compliance with employment laws and regulations, and contributing to the development and implementation of our policies and procedures.

You will also be responsible for the organisation and coordination of all our administrative tasks, as well as managing recruitment and onboarding for all our Korean staff.

Day to day

  • Manage all HR activities, including recruitment, employee relations, compensation & benefits, performance management and compliance.
  • Collaborate closely with our UK people team to build and implement policies and procedures that are aligned with our company goals.
  • Stay informed and maintain compliance with current employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee payroll operations and understand tax implications.
  • Lead on any Employee relation matters in Korea and work closely with our HO ER team on performance management.

About you

Do you have proven experience within HR, alongside a relevant HR qualification? Do you have demonstrable experience working in a complex, matrix organisation with a global scope? Then this could be the role for you!

Alongside the above, we're looking for the following:
  • Solid knowledge of employment law and current HR regulations with qualifications in KSHRM, CIPD or equivalent.
  • Experience working in both complex matrixed environment and business start-up.
  • Proven decision-making skills with expertise in employee relations, staffing, and training.
  • Understanding of payroll operations and tax implications for vendor bill payments.
  • Attitude and ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding, dynamic and culturally diverse environment, with the personal integrity to make positive change even when it challenges the status quo.
  • Excellent communication skills, including presentation skills, with evidence of providing strategic updates in a concise format.
  • Demonstrable analytical and project management to meet deadlines and effectively multi-task.
  • The right to live and work in Korea.

Important Information

Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited is currently undergoing the necessary business registration and operational certification process with the Republic of Korea authorities. All hiring will be subject to and contingent upon the successful receipt of applicable permits and licenses, including the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) validation. 

At this stage, we are collecting expressions of interest only. Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for preliminary discussions, but no employment contracts will be issued until formal approvals are complete. We currently expect the approvals to be completed within 2025, subject to the decisions of the relevant government authorities. If approved, hiring is expected to proceed in 2025/2026.
