Location: Flexible working with up to 3 days a week in our VHQ, Crawley
Contract: 12 month fixed term contract

In a nutshell

You will lead the implementation and UAT testing of the new ERP system for Direct Operating Cost Accounting (and other areas) in collaboration with our ERP implementation partner and the Virgin finance transformation team. This role involves working closely with the BAU teams to ensure a successful roll-out and delivery across Virgin Atlantic, Cargo, and Virgin Atlantic Holidays. You will primarily focus on developing effective processes and ensure they are bedded in pre ERP go live.

Collaborate with Finance Operations and Financial Planning teams to make sure the process works. Train team members and validate new processes. Resolve issues and update VP Finance Operations and Head of Group Accounting.

Day to day

You'll be responsible for the following activities:

  • Document and communicate business objectives for DOC and other processes to project teams, emphasizing their importance for ERP implementation and delivery.
  • Understand DOC roadmap, system, and process changes to allow complete and effective training and testing.
  • Lead discussions with implementation partner and transformation team on data gathering and liaise with other departments as necessary.
  • Ensure required additional transformation initiatives identified are delivered to plan and any deviations are brought up at the earliest opportunity.
  • Support data cleanse and data migration activities ensuring data accuracy/integrity is preserved.
  • Act as the primary contact for all project-related inquiries before and after the debut.
  • Keep the team informed of progress and advance any issues through the appropriate channels.
  • Organize UAT plans and communicate to teams.
  • Carry out UAT (User Acceptance Testing) within specified timelines (including direct testing).
  • Log any incidents/errors identified in a timely manner for quick resolution – pursue corrective actions as necessary with relevant teams.
  • Assist Revenue team with resolution of UAT issues.

About you

  • Proven background within an accounting team for an airline. 
  • A good understanding with and experience with Oracle ERP Solutions.
  • Previous experience working as a SME across finance systems projects, process automation and improvement activities.
  • Proven capability to prioritise work, working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent professional judgment and problem solving. 
  • Ability to explain clearly complex accounting processes to senior level stakeholders.
  • Confidence and ability to challenge proposed process and/or timelines if unsuitable to achieve desired accounting and reporting outcomes.
  • Capability to review and analyse multiple projects plans and highlight any conflicting process and/or objectives. Confidence to put forward recommendations and solutions.
  • Good IT skills i.e. Microsoft Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint etc. 
  • Qualified Accountant with demonstrable experience
