In a nutshell

We are looking for a Duty Manager who will be responsible for the overall supervision and administration of all the daily airport operations and services provided by Virgin Atlantic Airways and Federal Authorities. 

You'll ensure delivery of consistently great customer experience -with safe, secure and on-time performance as a major element of that experience in accordance with VAA procedures and policies, our brand values and our service. In addition, you will have multiple supplier interactions and will be responsible for positive and productive interactions in line with their respective SLA’s.

Day to day

  • Step up as the Airport Manager in their absence, using your experience to make sound judgment
  • Conduct or support in operational staff briefings and delegate’s duties and responsibilities. Updating staff on operational objectives prior to flight arrival and departure, ensuring responsibilities are defined and understood.
  • Build an environment where constant improvement is encouraged.
  • Lead and manage a highly compliant safety culture throughout staff at Airport, developing an environment ensuring they feel valued and engaged in the delivery of a world class service.
  • Promote and participate in Service First related programs.
  • Collaborate and establish relationships with key business partners, contractors and agencies, including, but not limited to Airport Authority, Handling Agents, Control Authorities, other Airlines and key internal departments.
  • Make Station Manager aware of progression of flight operation, problems and any other related functions.
  • Complete and submit shift reports and update airport diaries.
  • Use relationships to influence individuals and organizations appropriately to support Virgin Atlantic’s requirements and those of our customers
  • Complete or delegate monthly reports required for the Airport Authority and all other local and Federal agencies.
  • Produces and submit timely written reports to vital parties, as required for operational irregularities.
  • Plan, organize, direct and manage all airport activities in conjunction with the Station Manager.
  • Manage contractors in line with Company guidelines through regular meetings, ensuring product delivery meets Virgin Atlantic specification and standard and constantly seeking improvements and efficiencies.
  • Provide detailed statistical reports of contractor performance for management purposes. Monitor all subcontractors work performance and ensures adequate staffing levels for caterers, handling agents and other service providers.
  • Influence direct operating cost budgets for Airport operation.
  • Lead the local implementation of new service development initiatives within the operation, evaluating trials, feeding back and assisting with guidance for wider implementation
  • Lead and encourage local Management Team and vendor to accept and adopt new initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of the airport and company's emergency procedures.
  • Act as a participant in the Safety Coordinator Program; conduct all operational activities in full adherence to the Virgin Health and Safety Program.

About you

Do you have proven airline operational experience in all passenger and aircraft handling areas? Are you an experienced manager who leads with trust, empowering and developing your team and suppliers? Then this could be the role for you!

Alongside the above your experience should showcase the following:

  • A high-quality planner who is comfortable working with sophisticated data - assimilating data quickly and using it to build decisions and bringing it to life
  • Customer centric with excellent commercial judgment and experience in budget management.
  • Curious with an innovative approach to problem-solving
  • The ability to work in a pressurized environment, with a flexible approach to work during unsocial hours.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality standards orientation.
  • Competent use of MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency with Departure Control System and automated check-in; familiarization with ticketing and fare rules, baggage services, aircraft loading and unloading, weight and balance and all related aircraft services activities.
  • Solid understanding of supply chain management, FAA, CAA regulations, and applicable Federal, State and local laws and ordinances.
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator
  • The right to live and work in the Republic of Korea 

Virgin Atlantic Airways Limited is currently undergoing the necessary business registration and operational certification process with the Republic of Korea authorities. All hiring will be subject to and contingent upon the successful receipt of applicable permits and licenses, including the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) validation. 

At this stage, we are collecting expressions of interest only. Shortlisted candidates may be contacted for preliminary discussions, but no employment contracts will be issued until formal approvals are complete. We currently expect the approvals to be completed within 2025, subject to the decisions of the relevant government authorities. If approved, hiring is expected to proceed in 2025/2026.
